netscape 9.0 beta released
http://browser.netscape.com/

should support all firefox's extensions and maybe themes

Has a firefox feel to it, pretty quick, imported everything nicely from Safari. Interesting that it is back.

Like the ability to easily edit the search engines ( i am a dedicated Safari user)

Not too keen on the green colour system but if it supports Firefox themes then that is all good.

Needs to move over to OS X widgets (I think that is what is called) see attachment for what I mean, first is Netscape, second is Safari.

firefox 3.0 will be aqua widgets, i guess at that time, it will be netscape 9.5.

PS, u can search and download those small apps to change the widgets inside netscape or firefox 1.5/2.0.x

netscape... so many memories...

i'm tempted to try it out. what makes nav9 different than FF?

only differences:

1. integrated news, and interactive with netscape "digg" like features
2. able to re-size input field in the webpage
3. correct typo in URL
4. LINK pad, temporarily store links u are interested
5. split a browser window into two
6. new Book of Mozilla
PS. Most of these (at least for 1, 5 AFAIK) can be done in firefox if u get some extensions installed.

What's the main point of this project?
Am I correct in believing it's based off the Firefox source?

u are correct, its based on firefox 2.0.0.4
the main point is to connect browser and web content, and probably get some reward for their contribution to mozilla fundation.
