All,

My apologies in case this question has already been asked/answered, but do you happen to know whether Mavericks (by default) disables the network connection of users when using fast user switching (FUS)? And if so, is there a way to avoid this?

Reason to ask: I am thinking of setting up a personal and work account on my Macbook. Personal account will use built-in WIFI, while for my work account I am going to use a nano USA wifi adapter. I want to use the nano adapter because my work account requireds the setup of the corporate VPN and the corporate VPN doesn't allow split-VPN (i.e., re-routing local network traffic outside the VPN tunnel). So, if I would use the built-in WIFI, both my work and personal traffic would go over the VPN (which I don't want) + I can't access my local network devices, like my wireless printer and Network Drive when using a VPN.

So, when I switch from my work to my personal account, the VPN might be dropped if FUS disables/sleeps/shuts down the network connection. Setting up the VPN each time when I switch back to my work account would be a headache (as it also uses two-factor authentication). If it wasn't for the VPN, I could probably live with the situation as it probably takes 1 second for the WIFI to 'come back alive' when switching users.

Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thx!
