Network External HD?

Right! So after finally installing Leopard I discover that I cannot use Time Machine. Why? Well my external HD is connected to my iMac (Which will not be upgrading to Leopard because of age). I want to back-up onto that, however I do not get the option to do that. I have a C2D BlackBook and have no intention of lugging around a external HD everywhere I go. So my question to you is. Is there a crack to allow me to back up onto that drive?

Please answer ASAP
