I have an old G4 (PPC) with two internal hard drives. The main one has Tiger (10.4.11), the secondary one has OS9.
Just a couple hours ago, while booted in Tiger, I was watching a video at "megavideo" when suddenly, after 10 minutes or so, the video stopped buffering. I use Firefox. I tried a few websites but couldn't connect anywhere. I then tried checking my mail but Mail.app said there was no connection. I figured there was a network failure and didn't really think that much about it.
However, "system preferences: network" says that my network is active. There's even an IP address for me. "Network utility" says the same thing, namely, "Link status active".
I tried logging in on the guest account. No change. While system preferences claim my network is active, no internet program is able to connect. I tried a "safe boot" and repaired permissions. Still no change.
The really odd thing is that when I boot into OS9, I have no network trouble. That's how I'm posting here now. (It does reside on another harddrive, in case that might be a factor.)
I don't even know where to start looking. Any suggestions ?
