I thought someone might be able to shed some light on this.

In my sidebar I noticed that there is a machine logged on that I do not know or maybe understand.

It is named imac-a350f6, i believe that the last six numbers have something to do with the machines MAC address. It doesn't match anything i own.

So, last night i logged into my airport extreme, the newest one, and set up the MAC address access control. I set it to timed access and inputted everything that i own and gave those things unlimited access, then I set the default to no access.

Tonight the item is back in my shared section of my sidebar.

FYI it says it is a PC Server.

are you running parallels (or another similar program) by any chance?

also if you open airport utility, under advanced -> "logs and statistics" there is a wireless clients tab that will let you see who is on your network.

I have fusion but it doesn't work because the version I have is not compatible to SL.

I have 2 Alu iMacs and a G4 iMac but they are all accounted for.

Thanks for all of your help and input.

I am going to check if it comes and goes with a certain computer as it logs off and on.

you probably have windows sharing (samba or smb) turned on, on one of your imacs.

it will show up as a windows share that way too.

check under
system prefences -> file sharing -> options
