sorry for the remedial question. I just switched to a Mac.

I'm attempting to set up the digital filing feature on my HP 7600 AIO. This allows me from the AIO to select a destination on any networked machine to send a scan to and dumps it in that folder without me even having to be at the computer.

I've shared a folder on my MBP. What is the network path to that folder that I tell the HP? For example, when I used this feature with my old PC it was \\myPC\sharedfolder. What is the format on a Mac? is it the same? Cause that's not working. The folder is called Scanner Output, in the Documents folder. My assumption is I'm leaving out like maybe the user name or something I'm just not sure where it goes and in what format.

Are you running 10.5? Instructions might vary a bit if not...

System Preferences: Sharing
Note the name of your computer at the top of the window
Make sure "File Sharking" is checked
Select "File Sharing" and select "Options"
Make sure "Share files and folders using SMB" is checked
Check the user accounts you want to have access to shared folders

Add the folder to share to your shared folder list.

To access the share, it should be \\computer name\folder name

If that doesn't work, you might try replacing the computer's name with it's IP address to see if it works. If it does, it's probably a workgroup issue.
