Hi,

I have an Epson Stylus Pro 4800 connected to a router, and then to my computer all through ethernet cables.

My computer sees the printer on the network and the recent drivers are installed.

The printer works fine when connected directly via USB
However, when i choose to print to this printer using my router over the network, i get a 'communication errors'

Any ideas please??

Thanks!

This question gets asked and answered about every two or three hours. You cannot use a USB driver to print using a networked printer. Search this forum for Gutenprint and CUPS.

Problem solved.
Nothing to do with the usb connection.

My printer did not have an IP address assigned properly.
