Network Preferences Unexpectedly quits

This is a double post. I did not get any answers in the other forum, so mods feel free to delete the other post if this one is in the right sub-forum,

Hi All,

apologies if this has been answered else-where but Ive looked and found no solutions. My problem is that I cannot access network preferences. I can access system preferences and turn my airport on/off via the toolbar, but I cannot actually open the network preferences without system preferences unexpectedly quitting. I have to access my universities VPN to read an e-book for an exam, so this is quite frustrating right now,
