I have a peer-to-peer network at home that originally began as a Windows network but is now all Mac.

I also have 2 brother printers that are connected to the network via ethernet. None are "shared" because they don't need to be.

I have installed the printer drivers on 2 Mac Minis and all is well. However, when I installed the software on my new MB, instead of the printer name showing up-the IP address of the printer shows when I issue a print command. Both printers will print-they just have useless descriptions instead of their correct names.

This is okay for me, as I know which is which, but for the wife, not so much. Is there a way to replace the IP address with the Printer name on my MB?

Using Leopard 10.5.6-thanks!

Open up system preferences>print & fax>double click on the printer you want to rename>click the info icon>then change the name.
