I completed some updates about 4 weeks ago for my macbook pro but instead of restarting the computer, I turned it off. Now I can't access my network settings. The message I get is "Your network settings have been changed by another application". I have to Force-Quit just to close System Preferences once that message appears. This has affected my iTunes, Chat and internet connection. Can anyone help????

Did you install a 3G card? thats what happend to me , but in Tiger Only!

way to go around this is simple:

System settings: Security and then choose something like "always ask for password when changing system settings" , i have leopard right now so its different!

just found it in leopard
"require password to unlock each system preference Pane"

Than you just go into network settings open the lock on the bottom left and type in your password!
