My set up:

Old PC running Windows XP containing Itunes library
New Macbook
40 G Apple TV
500 DVD Library

I'd like to:

Purchase an external hard drive that would allow me to store/back up my PC data and Itunes library as well as data from my Macbook and stream content to the Apple TV. I have looked at 1TB external hard drives, but I'd prefer a wireless network one. Ideas? Alternatives to Time Capsule? I'd eventually like to rip my DVD collection and store it as well.

Thanks!:)

I'd be sure to get one that had a wired connection for the initial file transfer. I move MPEG2 files over N wireless to a Time Capsule and it's not "fast". I'd not want to move 500 DVDs worth that way at all. I do my biggest moves at night.

I use FW400 external drives for my backups and storage needs, they have worked well for me. I also couldn't/can't deal with USB2 speed either! LOL!!
