network timeout when dvi port plugged in

hi i have a problem with my macbook which started happening around october

when i plug my monitor into the mini dvi port i loose network connections and get time out errors when i try and reconnect. when i unplug the dvi cable it connects strait away.

any one got any clues on why this happens/ a way to fix it??
