network transfer causes freezing.

hey guys,

got my new mac pro friday. its kick ass fast and OSX is amazing....except for one pretty major issue.

whenever im trasfering data from another computer though the network I cant do anything else. if I do then everything starts locking up and forcequit doesnt work. I basically have to restart the machine.

I have not had any other problems at all. its just when im trasfering through the network. if I dont touch anything as soon as it starts transfering then everything is fine.

anyone else having this or know why its happening?

I was seeing really poor network performance when talking to Vista and XP. This article helped: http://echeng.com/journal/2006/09/13/mac-os-x-slow-network-performance-to-windows-xp/

I wasn't seeing freezing though - that sounds more like a hardware issue to me...
