Networked HD intermittently disconnecting.

I have a 750 gig. Western Digital USB HD connected to my AE router. The problem that I'm having is that it intermittently disconnects. Unplugging the router from the AE then plugging it back in corrects the problem but I'm having to do this 3-5 times a day! I have rebooted my router numerous times but it doesn't make a difference. Interestingly enough, this problem began *after* updating the firmware on my AE.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
