i have connected 2 computers to a simple network.
computer 1 is a pc, it has a shared folder, user acct has a password
computer 2 is a mac, it has leopard, i heard of the firewall problem and decided to restrict all access to my computer.. i can't see any computers on my network.. and can't even access them typing in the ip.

how do you fix that? so that i can see my network drive/folder?

i then decided to take the firewall of the mac, and i added also the "file sharing" through preferences, and it works.....sometimes..
but even then i can't see my files from the pc.

any easy way to have access to both.. but using username and passwords?

Do you have file sharing turned on under system prefrences > sharing?

Yeah, check the guide, tons of good info. You could also search google or apple.com/support for "networking mac windows" or "networking mac xp"

i didn't think you needed to have file sharing on the mac, since all i want to do is access files from a pc, on my mac.

file sharing on a mac, is for sharing files on the mac, isn't it?

but yeah.. thanks for the link above.... i got it to work through ip, but i am gonna have to redo that everytime my pc changes ip..so i am about to give it a manual ip.

There is a windows sharing option as well
