I've got 2 PC's networked together using a wired D-link (DI-604) and my wife just bought a Mac Powerbook. We use AOL Broadband as our ISP and she suggested I come on this forum to get advice on how to hardwire the Powerbook to the PC network (using an ethernet connection) . She also has wireless Airport Express, also but that is another story

The modem is a Motorola SB4200 surfboard cable modem. Would it be as simple as it was when I added the second PC to the network (which was basically plug and play -- the router offered no problem.) Or will an Apple demand more configuration?

Just to connect to the internet should be plug and play. There are a couple things you need to set up if you want to be able to access the files on the computers, but its not hard to do.
