Hi

If I'm using my wireless connection and then sit at my desk & plug in the LAN cable to link to the same router, if I don't turn off the wireless connection, which connection will the macbook take? the LAN would be quicker if that makes a difference.

thx

JT

Go into Network Preferences, click the gear icon, select to set services order and move Ethernet above WiFi, that should give preference to Ethernet.

There is also an app called BridgeChecker that disables WiFi when a LAN cable is connected.

is there a reason to leave the wifi turned on for the iMac if it is always plugged into the LAN? what other purpose does it serve if not providing the internet connection? much thanks.
