I've put together a new PC that has Windows 7 Pro. But I am having trouble getting it to share files and the printer with the other computer which is an iMac running OS X 10.6.3.
I have an older mushroom shaped "g" Airport Extreme hooked to the iMac. I had been using the Airport for another Mac in the house. That Mac was effortless to get setup via the relatively intuitive menus to get the network setup between the two Macs.
I just can't get the Windows 7 PC to share files and/or the printer. The printer is hardwired from the iMac that has the Airport hooked to it as well. I should say that I get the Windows 7 PC online, that it was fairly easy to get that going and recognize the Airport wireless network for that.
I've searched the net and found various instructions online that describe certain setting on both the Mac and the PC. But I just can't seem to get anything going.
The PC asks for Homegroup password that I did not setup before it first asked for that. I tried that route and it did not work either.
From searching on the web it seems that getting a Windows 7 PC and a Mac to network is not an easy task.
Any ideas? I just hope that some of the settings I've done have not totally messed things up. Not sure I can remember all the settings that I've changed to try and get this going.
