Neurotic about warranty/applecare issues

So I've got a goal for the next year to get more proficient with upgrading hardware.

I have a mid 2009 MBP 17", I'm planning on dropping in 8gb ram and a 256gb SSD from Crucial in the near future. I'm just making sure none of this would void the warranty (and if you have experiences upgrading or with these additions, please let me know)

On a side note, I'm also hoping to turn my acer aspire one into a touchscreen hackint0sh. That'll be my major tech project.

As long as you don't break anything while doing it, it won't Hard drive and ram are considered user upgradeable.

I mod. my own crap all the time. Trick is to keep the original stuff and have it available to reinstall before taking it in for any service. Never had an issue.

Oh, and using the right screwdriver so you won't even be able to tell I was meddling is important too.
