The iPhone 5 is a reasonable improvement at best. Steve however would have never settled for anything less than amazing.

A bit faster, somewhat thinner, slightly bigger. This has bean counter written all over it. I hope they aren't paying someone to come up with these ideas.

If Steve were around, I'm sure some minor detail would be different, but by and large it would look the same. What would have been different is that he'd have wowed the crowd by talking at length about how great the screen was, and how advanced the design was. He was quite the showman.

Let's not kid ourselves about specs in the Steve Jobs era. Remember, Steve Jobs got everyone excited in 2007 about a 2G phone that lacked apps, GPS, and wasn't very good at making calls.

Steve could sell water to whale.. Also it was the beginning of the hype for Apple.. Now the dust has cleared.. No phone is the clear leader.. (maybe the lumia 920)

I agree, Steve _was_ missed, but for a different reason than how the final specs of the phone are when it ships. I do believe this phones specs were already set.

Steve was Apple's Ringmaster & Showman.

He could whip the crowd into a frenzy that nearly had them throwing their wallets on stage.

He could get them so hot for the new product, they'd revert to calling it sexy, as though it were a hot woman.

Easily the worlds best salesman, he set a bar so high it's just not possible to duplicate.

Apple needs to hire a celebrity presenter.

I do agree that Apple should find a new presenter that would stir up an audience. That's all I'm agreeing with though. The other points about the phone are ridiculous.

I thought Steve oversaw this phone before his passing. In fact wasn't he involved in everything for the next 5 years?

Back to reality, if SJ was still with us, the 5 would be identical but presented to us more charismatically.

I think that may be put out there to deflect any criticism Cook may get if doubt starts to creep in about if he's capable. It gives apple a buffer in the years following Jobs death.

Just like the iPad 2 when he was here...

And the iPhone 4s

And the iPhone 3GS.... And EVERY iMac for the past 6 years

And The Macbook Air 2011 update...

... all updates that people weren't happy with.

"Apple is on the decline"
"Apple aren't in the lead anymore"

People say this crap at every anouncement, and I just ignore it.

But saying it's because Steve isn't there anymore is just stupid.

Really ignorant, uneducated, stupid, nonsense.

Most likely. They will claim Jobs had a hand in everything so they can deflect blame when it doesn't go to plan.

Actually, iirc, there were articles last year about how the iPhone 5 was the last iPhone over which Steve had a big influence. So this is likely how he wanted it
