So I was looking on the ipad mini 2 page and saw that it comes with a 10W adapter and that adapter looks like the 5W that came with the first gen. So apple finally crammed that into the smaller form factor.
 
Look again, it's not. It's the larger sized one for the iPad Air.

I see this is old but look a little closer. The charger that comes with the ipad mini with retina is the older 10w charger that came with the ipad gen1-3. The ipad gen4 and air come with the newer 12w charger. Just look at the brick. The spec is printed right on it. The first ipad mini came with the small 5w charger that the iphone comes with.
