On New Year’s Day I broke my right arm while out for a walk with my daughter and our doggies and became a member of the one handed computer users group. Hopefully my membership is temporary.
When it came time to return to at least addressing the email part of my job, I found using my new 12.9 iPad a great help.
By placing the machine in landscape on either my lap or desktop, I’m able to get a lot done. The bigger screen allows me to see a good amount of content and have a full sized keyboard— with predictive text— available to hunt and peck my responses. I find this setup much quicker than using my iMac with a track pad. I also find it easier on my arm and neck to look down on a screen vs the heads up posture of a normal setup. (Still not sure why creatures that read and write in a head down position chose the ergonomics of a new posture for what they do hours a day. I guess screen size is more important).
After this little adventure I’m thinking I’ll do this setup more often for the times where a 27” view of things are not required.
