Picked up a Base 13" Air today.

Got it from best buy with ED discount. $1199+$100GC

not too shabby

Im coming from a long line of macs, with a work computer thats a Sony Vaio Z series.

Im getting used to the 16:10 aspect ratio again, but overall it is one screamin laptop!

The screen real-estate is nice to have!

Nice. What kind of job do you have that gives you a Sony Vaio Z? I need to make do with a 5.5 lb HP "thin and light" Elitebook. You can fit both your MacBook Air and Vaio Z in the case that I use for my HP and have room to spare.

I work for an Orchestra in corporate fundraising. They had a partnership with Sony. It was a 2008 model. Nice machine but it still lacked a little.

True, but since not-for-profits usually operate on a shoestring, I'd have thought you'd be stuck with some donated brick or an oversized, underpowered eMachine or low-end Dell that they got cheap. I guess if Sony was a sponsor and had their name plastered all over advertising or a concert series they might have given the orchestra a decent deal on their products. Now you just need to convince Apple to sponsor a concert series so you can get an 11" MacBook Air!

Wait - you got a base air for $1199 and that included a free $100 best buy certificate?

Looks like best buy went a bit overboard on the education discount should've been 50 off instead of 100. Good deal.
