I guess this is still the W3580 CPU? I have a 2009 3.33GHZ W3580 Model, can I use 1333MHz Ram or do I need some kind of hardware update? Thanks for any advice, Toby

It also mentions that 1333MHz is ok for the W3580. Which one is it? Thanks, Toby Click to expand... It's the W3680, which is just a i7 980-X with ECC and a few other workstation class improvements to it. As for 1333Mhz, people have tried it and nothing happened so wouldn't waste the money trying to be honest!!

Unless Apple releases a firmware update, No. The reason is, they fixed the RAM to 1066MHz in the 2009 systems. MR members have added both 1333MHz DDR3 capable CPU's and 1333MHz DDR3 to both SP and DP systems, and it only ran at 1066MHz.
