Bought this $2K baby on the first day of BTS promo on May 25th, so Tue is my last day for return period.

I just noticed this noise from my right side of computer. I think it's my hard drive noise. Came out when running a slightly heavy program such as VMWare Fusion. You guys see this as a reason to get this exchange???

I recorded this noise using my blackberry bold 9700.

It sounds like the drive head is parking and removing itself frequently. This could mean impending doom or having the hard drive on an uneven surface.

Here are some other people having the same issue:

See if you can reproduce it like they do.

i doubt if it's the SMS as my laptop is laid flat on a desk... I have the OEM 500gb 5400rpm. I really wanted to upgrade my hard drive too, so I'm not sure if 7200rpm will make this noise even worse??

I've had my i7 15" with a 7200 rpm since Thursday and I haven't heard anything unusual, so having the 7200 would not make it worse, its gotta be your particular hard drive.
