Did all of my time machine stuff on an iomega external. It is a firewire drive, and does not fit the firewire port on the new macbook. Soooooo how the eff do I go about getting my time machine stuff?

Thanks

is it FW800? or 400?

what model mbp did you back-up? because nothing has changed in the last couple years

so that means you got a FW400 connection. As hellhamer said, you'll need to get an adapter for your new FW800 port.

Or if your external HD is outfitted with a usb port. Just repeat the process using that interface

It's a black macbook....so old.

Lol you will need an adapter. 400 to 800.

I have no idea why Apple changed form factors on their connectors going from FireWire 400 to 800. Doesn't Apple essentially control all the specs for FireWire? Does anyone know why they did that?

They better not pull the same crap with the higher speed fiber optic ThunderBolt ports coming out in a couple more years!

FW400 has 6-pin connector while FW800 has 9-pin. Maybe it needed more pins to achieve the higher speed.

fml.

Get this at apple store? Online?

I just want to get all my stuff on my new toy :(
