New 16” and external monitors question

I am going to be getting a 16” MacBook Pro with the 8gb 5500. It will definitely be used for gaming, and I plan to connect it to an external monitor. The new 16 supports 1920 by 1200, 1680 by 1050, 1280 by 800 and 1024 by 640. My monitors are 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. So how is that going to work?

Also, is there any data about how to 5500 8gb compares to the 580X 8gb? My uses will be video editing, gaming and browsing.

Where did you get those resolutions from? They're hot garbage, MacBook Pros have supported 4K displays (aka up to 3840x2160) for the last, oh I don't know, five or six years or so.

The new 16 supports 1920 by 1200, 1680 by 1050, 1280 by 800 and 1024 by 640.

Those resolutions listed are the 'scaled' resolutions using the built in display. They're irrelevant for an external display.
