Hi to all,
so I just got a 16” MBP M1 pro as well as a few weeks ago a Huawei UW 34” monitor. As I never really had a real desktop, I have a few questions on how to optimize it. My constraints/needs are the following:
As to the individual docks listed above, any comments ? The Razer looks nice but the white mercury version is unavailable in France and to my understanding, it is not possible to stop the RBG with a Mac, is that right ? As my desk is in our bedroom, having a RGB light won’t probably please my wife
Seeing some videos, I am considering putting the MBP vertically in clamshell mode using for instance this : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B08BNH48Q6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A66YY4RXXJ71X&th=1
I honestly have no idea how good it is, I have other more stylish rounded stuff doing the same thing, but I like the idea of having something with customizable width and that seems to be rather small. Any suggestions/remarks about this kind of setup ?
Finally, if I get a dock with an ethernet port, I am also considering using a Wifi extender to connect my Mac via Ethernet. My connection speed is quite good (and I am not too far from the modem but it is in another room and I cannot connect it directly to the laptop), but I have the impression that sometimes it is not very stable. Hence, do you think having a wifi extender that I would connect to the dock is a good idea?
Finally, last question, not desktop-related: what sleeve would you recommend for the MBP 16” ? Ideally, I am looking for a sleeve that is neither too heavy nor too thick as it will be in a backpack.
thank you

- my desk is small, i.e., about 1m width and 60cm depth
- my wife uses the desk once a week as well and has a work PC
- I tend to change laptops often and switch between Macs and PCs
- I don’t have a lot of things to plug, basically an USB C to DP for the monitor, maybe 1-2 USB A including one for my printer and 1 for my mouse’s dock but I will probably buy a MX Master 3 anyhow...
- but I need to charge the laptop it is connected to (ideally about 90W if for the MBP 16)
- I want to have only one cable that connects to my MBP.
