New 16gb iphone bricked! am i the first?

hi i went to the local o2 store early this morning waited in line, eventually got the last 16gb iphone (very lucky or so i thought!) however when i got home, i synced the phone with itunes on vista pc- all ok thus far. so i proceded to download (itunes+wifi connection) and sync some apps (super monkey ball, band etc) but during the sync the iphone hung. not a problem i thought so i unplugged and reset (using power+home buttons) and tried to resync, nothing sill stuck on the apple screen! which it then stayed and would not connect to ituns at all!
so went back to 02 who tried on their mac and nothing, still bricked, so all i could do was get a refund.
dont know when i will ge my phone now!

wanted to get it from o2, but they say they dont know when they will get them in, esp 16gb. carphone can get them in monday or tuesday, they say, but is their any disadvantge to using carphone instead of o2?

Should have tried to put the phone in DFU mode, which would un-brick any bricked iphones.
