I've heard doubling up on the converters might not work.

But monoprice has a direct mini diplayport to HDMI adapter for you for less than $10:

Also if you want audio you need an audio cable since mini displayport doesn't carry audio. If you have a surround sound system with optical input:

a bit over $2.

I don't know if they ship to UK but there's probably a uk seller for the hdmi adapter(definitely for the audio), if not there's always ebay.

Mini Display Port does actually carry audio as well, but I do not know if that audio is also converted through that adapter to HDMI as well

Yes it COULD, but Apple's don't. Weither a firmware update or something could fix it idk, but for the time being it doesn't and there is no way around it besides to run the audio seperetly.
 
Does someone know a place which sells the MDP to HDMI adapter and ships it to european countries?
On monoprice they take $28.91 for the shipping plus the $9.75 for the adapter. That's a lot too much.

Well, not everybody is lucky enough to live in The United States.
I'd just paid $2600 for the new MBP 2.66GHz and that's with 8% discount. Talking about a rip-off. ;)

But if I ordered it for almost $40, it's very likely it would be taken by the customs and then I would have to pay an additional 25% and 12% of the price plus a fee in about $30. Yes, that sucks.
But I'm going to NY next month. If I can't find it online for a reasonable price, I guess I'll have to wait and buy it then :(
 
I hope some company will realize that consumers don't want an ugly adaptor on their desk next to their amazingly stylish Apple laptop soon and release a full mini displayport to hdmi cable. I don't like adaptors because they are so much bulkier than a cable.
