Lakers!
So I am using the student discount to purchase a new macbook pro.
I'm not sure which is more worth it.
The lower end MBP is $1899 with the student discount, but the higher is $2299 which saves me $200 instead of $100.
Can someone explain to me the stuff like 5400 rpm vs 7200 rpm? and how it affects battery life.
Also, the ram and GHz; is .13 worth the price and is it an improvement that I will easily recognize?
Last, is 256 MB of graphics memory significant?

5400rpm and 7200rpm are the speeds of the hard drive. The faster the HD speed, the faster your computer will be when doing HD intensive tasks. If you are a student, I would suggest saving some money and getting the 1899 version. The small bump in processor speed is not really worth it.

Interesting move by Apple when it comes to student pricing.

lol, that's not the word I was thinking!

I'll keep my early 2008 MBP. Honestly, I love this machine and the keyboard. I know all keyboards will be like these new ones from now on, but I¡ll stick to this one for a couple more months (years?) and then switch when this machine no longer does it, which will be in a very long time.

Grr. I really need a new computer too. I guess I'll have to wait for the next Notebook refresh. Hopefully we'll get them in February like 2008.

I'm not planning to replace my early 2008 MBP, I'm just a little bummed that now the low end model only discounts $100 to students, because this will very likely be the norm from now one.

If you're not too much in need for a MBP check out the macbook, those really got one hell of an upgrade!

please accept all the Sarcasm in this post...( just venting due to the ugliness of the new MBP)
i'm not sure where you were when they taught MATH at school..

buying a $1899 with a 100 discount
versus
buying a $2299 with a 200 discount.

i'm trying to figure out HOW the 2nd one will be cheaper in anyway..

sorry!!!
