New 2018 13" MBP - but says 2017?

So...just took delivery of a brand new 13" non-TB MBP 6 days ago.

Ordered early Feb, delivered and picked up at the store on Feb 23. Apparently had to wait for it to be manufactured as I ordered a less popular configuration. Was told ~Feb 15 that it had not even be scheduled to be produced yet. Was pleasantly surprised about it arriving on the 23rd.

So - in looking at the System Overview it says "2017".

What's up with that?

As I see it, this impacts resale value...

That is the model year of your MBP. There is no 2018 model. That doesn’t mean it was built in 2017, but it was built on the 2017’s design.

The 2018 model is expected to arrive in May, maybe as early as April.
