Bestbuy had a big sale that discounted 2018 15" macbook pro base model to $1799 last Friday. So I took this chance and bought one. Everything is fine so far. This new machine is super fast, and runs every app I throw at it. I'm pretty amazed as I come from a 2015 13" macbook pro. This machine is a beast.

However, after a few days' usage, I do notice that it has a wobbly hinge. It's so loose that every time I adjust the screen angle it will keep shaking for a few seconds (about 2~4s). I have a 2015 macbook pro 13" at hand, so I can compare them. The 2015 machine has a much sturdy hinge, no shaking at all. I was wondering if this is normal? Anyone with this computer noticed similar thing?

I'm still in the return period. Recently I have read many posts complaining about the reliability about 2018 macbook pro, and I'm really worried about my new machine now. I was waiting for a possible new release this year, but this huge discount is too difficult to resist. But if all the reliability issues are real, I may consider return it and waiting for 2019 macbook pro instead. What do you think?

I have not picked my 2018 15” 512GB Macbook Pro from Bestbuy yet. It was $600 off. After reading your thread, I wonder if I should pick it up or cancel my order.
On the other hand, I know many people whose 2016-2017 MacBook Pro, both 13” and 15”, are still working well.

Exactly. I have a few friends and colleagues with 2017 MBP. Only one has some issues with the butterfly keyboard, and all others are just fine.

I used the new machine for a few days. It's super fast, probably because I came from 2015 MBP. Regarding the butterfly keyboard, my experience is mainly positive. I have no problem working with it for extended hours, like writing papers. But I do worry about the reliability issues. With AppleCare, everything is pretty much covered but it can annoying if it breaks some day and I have to send it to Apple, leaving no machine for myself. I don't know the big picture of the reliability of 2018 MBP, but every time I hit macrumors website, I always result in challenging my own decision.
