Just picked up a new 2018 15" MBP yesterday. With regards to Touch ID to unlock the MBP after it's been in sleep mode, is it safe to leave it running 24-7. i.e. not shutting it down except for when I'm traveling or not using it for an extended period of time.

Yes, you will just get a bit of battery usage as you'd expect, however you could leave it plugged into power so it'll fully charge then run off mains power alone. My old MBA sat for days in sleep.

I've used Apple laptops since 2001 and never turned one off for an extended period of time, ever.
Always asleep at night, closed during travel.
Never had an issue doing it, they all lasted for years and years.
