Looking to buy a new 30" monitor but should I wait for a new version?? Is the new 24" going to have a 30" version also?

Just be warned that 30" display won't work with your iMac.
Other than the fact that there is no Mini DVI to Mini Display Port connector yet, even so no 30" from any company will work. Mini DVI will only drive a max of 19x12 (hence the new Mini Display port, which would be an amazing connector if more companies used it).

Why does everyone make it the wrong way?

Yes, the 30" will work, but if the computer's video out doesn't support dual-link DVI, the maximum resolution you can set it to is 1280x800, NOT 1920x1200.

I though it would become a well-known fact now that the 30" displays are around for 4+ years. Guess not.

Did i miss something? When was the Apple 30" announced?

If you mean the new one, not yet, although were assuming January.

If you meant "wahh? Apple sell a 30" display?" It was announced in 2004 http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Cinema-30-inch-Flat-Panel-Display/dp/B0002ILKWM

Why only 1280 x 800? Mini DVI drives upto 1920 x 1200 on a normal display. And yes I know there is a 30", the guy said he was waiting for a new one.

30" is not "normal" display. I don't really know why, but its true. Only 1280x800 if using single-link DVI. You can search this forum - this topic has been brought up ever since the 30" was released.
