New 3G handset works great, 2G handset turned into useless device

So ... the new 3G iphone is great, but I am a little bit discontent with the fact that I cannot even install applications on my old 2G iphone device. It simply says it is not authorized by iTunes to do anything in particular. I was looking forward to using this as an iTouch-like device ...

Is there something wrong with my particular device/configuration, or are unactivated 2G iPhones crippled for a reason?

did it get unactivated? If so you might want to hactivate it so you can get that thing working! check out pwnage 2.0 or whatever its called.

yeah just jailbreak it...

Did you upgrade your firmware/restore before or after you took out your SIM? As restoring the phone with no SIM in will lead to an unactivated phone.

take your sim card out and sell the damn thing. i bet you could get at least two hundred bucks.
