I was thinking, with the new plastic back on the 3G iPhone, does this effectively put Colorware out of the business of painting iPhones? I'm bummed as I really think they do beautiful work and was considering having it done to my 3G when I got it (before I new about the plastic back).

Something about plastic that cant be painted on?
Last I checked they can paint the PS3

The PS3 is glossy plastic

I'm sure they're not gunna be out of business.

i'd think even more business

people buy the iphone 3g, like most people on here, will use it naked for a few months

all scratched up...buy new iphone or colorware it!

The only thing that should change is you will have to send phone and won't be able buy new via colorware.

Colorware can color anything that's plastic (Blackberries, iPods, XBOX controllers, PSPs, etc.) so I don't see why the iPhone would be any different.

Huh. I really didn't think you could paint plastic. I stand corrected. I wonder if it will look as good as the metal did though. If so, I'll probably go ahead.

Bumble Bee Yellow perhaps?

If you're going to paint it some gaudy color then yes, yes colorware IS out of business.

lol.

You didn't think they could paint plastic? The iPhone was not their first painted product, you know. They've been around for years. I first heard of them painting iPods...which included the front of the iPod, which has always been plastic. Then there's the game consoles, the TVs, etc...actually, the majority of the stuff they paint is plastic.

Now that it's plastic, why paint it when they can just make new plastic backs in any color? Or clear? LOL *cringes*
