New 3GS, screen not dimming unless autolock is set to 1 min

Hi guys,

Unless my iPhone is set to autolock after 1 min the screen doesnt dim, even when set to never the phone just sits lit up on my first page of apps. I assumed it would go to the wallpaper and clock after a preset amount of time.

The phone is brand new running 3.0.1.

If you have it set to never, it will never go to wallpaper and clock (ie lock)

Ah so you only see the clock and wallpaper when locked? Should the screen not dim to save power tho?

Exactly I don't think the screen dims when it's set to never. If it's set to auto lock after xx amt of time, the screen dims before it locks (but I'm unsure how soon it dims before it locks)
