First and foremost, I posted this in the OS X 10.11 forum as well to see if there are any varying answers.

I just picked up a shiny new 5k iMac Sunday replacing a 2007 iMac and have a (potentially dumb) question for you all. Initially I migrated everything from the old iMac to the new one, but after thinking about it awhile, I realized I didn't want to bring over a bunch of junk built up over the last 8 years and instead do a clean install and hand pick things to bring over (i.e. iTunes, pictures, documents). So, I erased the hard drive and did an install of OS X Yosemite and then downloaded El Capitan and installed that.

Now without going through the process of creating a bootable USB with El Capitan, is this the "cleanest" method for me to install the new beta? Wasn't sure if "command+r"ing and erasing/reinstalling would work seeing as how it's a beta and all. Thanks for any info or help you can provide!
