Hi all
Currently have a series 3. Looking to upgrade, specifically for the health tracking and all I will pass the 3 onto my teenage son.

I can get a Series 8 GPS 45mm for £429 or a Series 7 GPS+Cellular 45mm for £419 from Apple refurb store.

When I bought the Series 3 I got GPS+Cellular but never used the Cellular. However I am pretty sure back then it came with larger memory and a harder back where the heart rate sensors is. Not sure if still the same.

Would be aluminium obviously.

Thoughts? Any reason to get the 8 over the 7?

Cheers

For 10 quid I'd get the new 8 over the refurb 7.

You have the additional option of silver, BT 5.3, car crash detection, more granular power save mode, and temperature sensing (possibly useless).

I do like the idea of even an unactivated cellular, it could at least make emergency calls, but I don't like the S7 colour options, and it could well be an older battery.

The storage is the same on cellular and non-cellular for S7/S8. You are correct that on the S3 this was not the case.

Had cellular on my watches since S4 and never activated it, don’t see the need for me.
If I were in your shoes, I’d go S8 for that little delta in price, or, check out whether any reseller had better deals

I have a cellular S7 and really like it, but the S8 is the clear choice if you’re not going to activate the cellular.

I was lucky, managed to pick up a refurb'd S7 (45mm GPS) just before Christmas for £339. I had no need for a cellular version and didn't want to pay an extra £90 for nothing.
