802.11n devices will only run at 802.11n speeds. If you need a new wireless base, the new AirPort Extreme is a godo idea so you have 802.11ac available for future purchases.
If you already have an 802.11n setup, it may not be worth replace your current wireless base yet.
802.11ad is suppose to come out next year. Chances are Apple may update their Airport extreme again then. If you can hold off until next year I would wait. 802.11ad I believe will allow for 2.4/5/ and 60Ghz frequencies. 802.11ac only works on 5Ghz. The 60Ghz is only ideal for being in the same room but the throughput for 802.11ad is up to 7Gbps
I don't have any wifi setup yet and planning to have one with new Airport extreme.
I heard that the current rMBP with 802.11n will not have any benefit with new time capsule as it would be for new MBA with 802.11 ac. Is my understanding correct?
