Hi guys!

Quick question, I'd like to give some AirPods Pro 2 usb-c as a gift to a friend.
His current headphones are pure rubbish and our phone calls are often difficult because of it.
Today I found out his iPhone 13 still runs iOS 16.1.1 and he can't update due to apps he needs for work not being "compatible" with newer software.

I searched online a bit and found many discussions about the AirPods Pro 2 not displaying the right icons on iOS 16, with some people also having issues with the "volume slider" (I do not really know AirPods, please excuse my absolute incompetence).
These discussions are from 2023, though.

I am not too fussed about him having "cosmetic issues" but, were I to buy a pair of AirPods Pro 2 usb-c today, would they at all pair and work with iOS 16?

Thank you for your time!

Yes they will.
Thank you for your reply!
I am sure there will be features he won't be able to use, such as maybe Adaptive Audio? Has anyone had some experience with AirPods Pro 2 on iOS 16 and could mention some options that were missing?

To use them as hearing aids after loading your Audiogram by taking a hearing test in the Mimi Hearing Twst app. you need to switch Transparency option on and set levels for amplification going into your ears and also the level of noise cancelling. For me, the default of 50% is fine for me.

All Adaptive does is give you a mixture of amplification and noise cancelling but the Airpods set it automatically. Adaptive works really well (for me) in all but the most challenging conditions.

We went to a Thai Festival a few weeks ago and it was very loud so I set Transparency Mode and out Noise Cancelling on full and tweaked the amp volume up a bit.
