New Airport Extreme - PLEASE HELP!

I got the new airport extreme and used it to access my external USB drive over my network. it is much too slow though, so i tried to plug my hard drive back into my computer. Now it doesnt mount on my computer. it shows up in disk utility, but as having no files and no folders. i plug it back into my airport... works fine. when i change the file access to something other than "with base station password"... when i mount it over airport... no files show up on the drive. i assume that the username/password is what is wrong with the drive. is there a hidden file that erases this or something? pleeeeeeeeeeeease help. thanks!!!!!
