New Airport Extreme with red internet light on modem ?

just installed new apex. I have att dsl with motorola modem. Everything works but the internet light on the modem stays red. Called att, they reset the modem and the light turned green, but now the router light flashes amber. Finally I reset everything and got the router light to green, but the internet light on the modem is red again. Does anyone have a clue why?

Does it require a crossover cable? Maybe?

Set the modem to Bridge Mode, and let the Air Ext handle the PPPoE login. When I had AT&T DSL a few years back, this setup worked flawlessly. Resetting the modem on their end will not fix your problem if there is a conflict between the 2 devices with the login.
