I have a new Macbook Alum I got for Christmas. I use it all the time and really love it! This is coming from a die hard PC guy that's been a Windoze user since it was invented... Run a PC lab full of HP's at school...
Anyway, one of my two USB ports doesn't activate my devices most of the time. If I plug my device into the other port I have no issues.
I HATE to think of taking it in for repair... is there a remote possibility that I need to reload a driver or something or another?
Just grasping at straws...
Let me know if you have any ideas...
Thanks!
Joe

Joe,

I had the same issue with my alu macbook a couple of weeks back and found the solution of the Apple forums.

Just remove the battery from the macbook for 15 minutes and both USB ports work again, and they are still working with no issues.

I will take it to a genius next time I am near a store but I am over 60 miles from my nearest store.

I have the feeling that is essentially resetting the PRAM.

Wow!!! It worked. Tried lots of times the past 24 hours. Not one problem!

Thanks everyone!

Joe

Try zapping the PRAM
Hold:

Command - Option - P - R

When starting up the computer, until it restarts.
