Probably the only thing I miss from my Windows days is the ability to mouse over an open folder and open a new app-specific file (like a text file) in that folder by right-clicking and selecting the desired file type under the New menu item. In OS X, this action (if right-clicks are enabled) brings up the same menu list invoked by the Action button in the Finder header. Is there any way to add this sort of functionality to that menu list, or if not any way to bring this functionality to Finder in some other way? I'm looking for a short-cut to opening the specific app and then saving the resulting file in the desired folder.
