I've been wanting a device like this for a long time....very similar to an Echo Show that can do all the stuff you've mentioned above. I would set mine up in the kitchen for visible timers, checking calendars, Facetime calls, Siri commands for Apple Home, etc. I know an iPad could do most this, but a standalone product that stays put would be nice for consistency.

I wouldn't be expecting $100 though....Homepod mini costs that and doesn't have a screen, camera, fast processor, etc. I'd guess closer to $300 at a minimum. We are talking about Apple here, after all. :)
 
I’d definitely be picking up a few of these but hopefully Apple takes HomeKit more seriously and fix all the issues with it. iOS 18 wreaked havoc on Scenes and the light bulb UI in the Home app is still laggy.
