So I’m referring to this feature, which is absolutely amazing compared to the old speak screen way of doing it… But on 18.1 the speaking rate of the voice is absolutely horrible. I I find the new Siri voices to be a nice improvement however, it is too slow and there is no way to adjust the rate of voice besides the 1x 1.25x controls which just distort it completely.

I hope Apple fixes this ASAP because this is one of my favorite things in iOS 18, but this new voice is just unlistenable at this pace.

Also hope this feature comes to Safari on the Mase… And I wish we could listen to our e-books as well using this new interface.

Edit: just tried to increase the rate speed in accessibility Siri settings which does speed up the voice but only for Siri replies. It doesn’t change the slow listen to article.

I just tried this out and it read the page at an acceptable speed. Much like an audio book. Have you tried restarting your phone?
