New Apple Keyboard...can it be used on Panther?

Hey everybody, I am looking to buy a replacement keyboard on an old iMac, but it only is running Panther, and it cannot run Tiger. Will I still be able to use it? I know the Apple site says tiger, but I'm thinking thats just for the media controls.
