okay so i returned my old apple remote to the store for a faulty button. i didn't unpair it before i sent it back.

now i got my new remote and it won't pair. whats the deal and how can i fix it?
are there any files i need to edit to get this working?
i did click unpair after i tried to pair the new one.

paring is a setting in the computer only, it does noting to the remote.

apple remotes have a number, (i think 1 - 255), which one you get is random, and I believe there's no real way to tell just by looking at it which one it is.
I also think i heard somewhere it may shift to a new number when you pair the remote.

when you hit play, it's really sending play and that number.
all pairing does is tell the mac to only listen to that specific number.

You need to un-pair the old one first in the security settings on the mac before you can pair the new one.
